Christina Armstrong

Worked UK marketing company

Biography

Christina Armstrong will be speaking on our Inspirational YOU ‘Leading Ladies’ panel on the Saturday 30th June 2012.

Christina recently joined UK marketing company, Upfront as Head of Mobile. Upfront, the UK’s leading Branded Entertainment agency was co-founded in 1998 by Simon Stanford and Gary Davies, former BBC Radio 1 DJ and Top of the Pops presenter. Upfront has one of the strongest branded entertainment and content agency teams in the marketplace. BlackBerry and Foster’s are 2 of the definitive case studies in this sector and they aim to deliver equally high profile and successful content initiatives for many other brands.

Prior to Upfront, Christina spent five years at BlackBerry managing media and sponsorship for the UK, Italy and South Africa. During her time at BlackBerry she negotiated Brand Ambassador deals with two of the biggest acts in the UK (Tinie Tempah and Jessie J),

expanded the brands reach by successfully targeting the youth market for the first time via the award winning Kiss Breakfast show sponsorship, and took BlackBerry to the no. 1 youth brand in South Africa knocking Coca Cola off the top spot for the first time ever. She also led the award winning ‘Live and Lost with BlackBerry’, the UK’s first interactive music tour that brought fresh UK talent (including Professor Green, Rizzle Kicks, Example and The Wanted)

to BlackBerry users via the brand’s handsets, social media channels and attracted a wider audience through an AFP with C4.

Christina is also the founder and MD of Louda Media Ltd, a brand engagement and artist management company. The company is currently in the process of signing up some great new UK talent and planning the official launch of Te Amo Jewels, a luxury jewellery brand that prides itself on high quality hand-made products.

She has 16 years marketing experience within the mobile and telecoms sectors. Prior to BlackBerry Christina contracted with Vodafone UK and Ubuntu (an open-source software company). Whilst at Vodafone she managed their UK direct response media planning and campaign creative. Ubuntu saw her launch the company’s new website harnessing the skills of its developer community. She spent three years at start-up broadband Bulldog Broadband as Advertising and Comms Manager tasked with planning and implementing its advertising and PR campaigns. The company was acquired by Cable & Wireless PLC in 2005 which led to Christina overseeing the re-branding/re-launch of and management of its $25 million p/a advertising campaigns.
