image From a very young age I was into every sport and joined the junior clubs for tennis, badminton, football, gymnastics, volleyball and athletics.  With a few medals and trophies under my belt, as well as a potential junior volleyball career in my midst, I dreamt of becoming a professional sports person; you could have accused me of being a fitness and health fanatic!  Few years down the line, I developed a ganglion on the inside of my right wrist making the career path I was on short lived.
In 1993, at 19, I found myself working in the music and entertainment business which brought about new challenges, excitement as well as stress and a poor diet. My once sporty and active lifestyle changed into stagnant energy and insomnia.  A little dramatic you may think, but this was a reality for many years until I learned to listen to my body’s needs through meditation.
Meditation led me to a path of tranquillity and the journey that I am currently on. Meditation helped me to find the balance I needed for my working and personal life, a similar journey I found my good friend and colleague at Phenomenal Healthstyle (pH) to be embarking on also.  My very first blogging experience was for PH back in April 2011, which was exhilarating.  I found true solace in expressing myself through creative writing; sharing my life experiences whether it is in regards to health issues, dietary requirements, lifestyle choices or just simply writing to relieve the blockages. The great and fundamental thing about the PH ‘blogazine’ is the fact that it’s a platform, a community for everyone and anyone who wants to share any of their experiences around health or lifestyle issues, which in turn could help others.  PH aims to assist anyone wanting to find that balance in their life and I am proud to be part of PH.Zena Tuitt

Inspired by my mother I developed a passion for the Caribbean, personal development and holistic approaches to health and wellbeing at an early age.  After graduating in Media Studies at the University of Sussex and working in the media industry for nine years I moved to work in Bermuda where in my free time,  I found myself submerged in a number of health and wellbeing inspired activities including meditation.  After two and a half years, I returned to the UK in 2004 and started working at Big 4 professional services firm in business development and later management consulting.

In 2010, after my lifestyle had become imbalanced, I took a career break in the ‘pursuit of happiness’. Inspired by my passion for media communications and my personal journey exploring entrepreneurship, approaches to health and wellbeing, meditation, yoga and emotional intelligence  ‘Phenomenal Healthstyle (pH)’  was created – a blog platform for people to share their‘journeys to find the right balance for the lifestyle they want’.    In April 2011 I partnered with a team of seven bloggers including actress Tameka Empson to create content for pH as a weekly blogazine. Kehinde Olarinmoye was one of pH’s first bloggers who due to our shared passion for health and wellbeing later became a co-owner of Phenomenal Healthstyle.

In 2011 I returned to work at a Big 4 firm in Business Development Operations. Everyday I’m still learning how to find the balance and life is still full of new challenges and new daunting experiences but with, improved emotional intelligence and the aid of practical tools such as meditation, yoga and mindfulness as part of my daily life I have found myself with a higher level of self acceptance and inner sense of tranquility that makes every situation, even adversity, an opportunity to learn, grow and share.
