Stephen Akinsanya is a barrister at Old Bailey Chambers in London with 18 years experience. With a predominantly defence practice, he appears on behalf of both privately and legally aided clients in all criminal cases including murder and fraud. He is currently part of the legal team representing a foreign politician charged with fraud and money laundering in the United Kingdom. As an experienced junior he has been led and appeared alone in complex and serious criminal cases, acted for soldiers of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces in Germany and Cyprus. He also undertakes regulatory work before the General Medical Council. He has advised on death row and life sentence appeals from Jamaica and the Turks and Caicos Islands to the Privy Council.
Stephen has appeared before the Supreme Court in the United Kingdom recently and in the Turks and Caicos Islands as lead in the case of R-v- Belazaire, in which he successfully argued on the admissibility of DNA evidence.
He is a passionate and persuasive jury advocate.
