Ousseynou Ly is a 1st class Law graduate of Birkbeck College – University of London.
He followed the four-year LLB programme on a part-time basis. He is currently training for the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School.
He is a regular on the debaters’ circuit at various Law chambers and is a notable toast master.
He is currently in the process of applying for a pupillage, which probably represents the most daunting of all the processes that he has been through so far. Ly acknowledges that it is extremely competitive in Law, but has adopted the philosophy of ‘if hell is hot, keep walking’.
Ly comes from a trade union activist background and also works at British Airways, where he has been employed for nearly 15 years. He is a senior representative for the ground and head office staff for the last ten years on behalf of Unite the Union. He provides daily advocacy in the workplace on a collective as well as individual basis that encouraged him to study law.
Ly’s is passionate about politics in Africa and his ultimate aim is to make it as a courtroom advocate in employment, immigration and international trade.
